When the Going Gets Tough...

Good Things Don’t Come Easy.

Truer words have not often been said. I suspect that most of us appreciate that the best things in life take time and effort.

The dream of overnight success and the ‘sure bet’ are fallacies sure to disappoint us.

I’ve been told recently that certain things I intend on doing are hard and difficult and fraught with risk and will likely fail.

Ok, noted.

Having said that though there is general agreement that the potential outcome is certainly worthwhile, valuable and will be rewarding and beneficial for many people.

So here’s my question to you.  If you are presented with the opportunity to do something, something hard, really hard that’s going to be emotionally challenging for everyone involved.

Something that may not be successful and could well leave a number of people frustrated, disappointed and possibly more disillusioned than they are now.

BUT…

If it works out and is successful, could very well change the entire course of someone’s life for the absolute better in ways many of us may never appreciate.

It could also be the pebble in the pond that creates the ripples that then start to organically impact many, many more people.

So, what do you do? Do you face into it and give it your all? Or do you back down and take the path less risky?

I think this is a quandary that will come up for all of us at some time in our lives.

One of the factors that will make this an easier decision is your clarity on your "Why".  I previously talked about my personal story on this.  Having a clear purpose will enable you to make the harder decisions easier.

Part of the real challenge here is not just ignoring the voices in your head talking you down, but more so the voices of those around you. People will generally give you advice from a good place inside them.

That doesn't mean the advice is right, or at least right for you. Also be mindful that this advice is often people projecting their own fears, apprehensions, misunderstandings and uncertainties on you.

You don't need to allow others to judge you by their standards. Of course, there's a place for that, such as society’s values around murder and theft!

But no doubt that's not what's on your mind! If you're faced with a challenge, a dilemma or what feels like a bridge too far, share it in the comments or send me a message. I'd love to hear about it.

I and I'm sure many others will be happy to provide you with the moral support and guidance to face your challenge and tackle it head-on.

And on my personal challenge? Well, I'm facing into it. It will most likely take a fair amount of time, plenty of stumbles and probably a few tears before I see success.
